CommsOS · SAM for CAD, licence server and server licences
For environments where CAD, licence server and server licences account for significant expenditure: actual concurrent usage rather than installation counts, licence reconciliation against your contracts, audit reports at the click of a button. No agents on 7.000 endpoints. No full replacement for Flexera. An optimisation and reporting layer over the sources you already have.
Looking for an introduction rather than technical detail? Software licence management for mid-sized businesses (German) covers seats, renewals and unused licences, with published plans and a free initial analysis.
The issue
An installation inventory shows what is installed, rather than what is actually used and what it costs. This is where overlicensing and audit risk arise.
You pay for licences that no one uses. With expensive engineering software (CATIA, CAD), this can quickly amount to six-figure annual expenditure.
In a vendor audit, you pay retrospectively for each licence used beyond your entitlement, plus penalties. Without accurate reconciliation, you lack the evidence to contest the claim.
What we deliver
A focused scope covering the main cost drivers: CAD / CATIA, server licences, cloud seats and contract management discipline.
Contracts reconciled against the actual inventory, automatically and continuously updated. Compliance status for each product at a glance.
Actual concurrent usage from your licence servers (FlexLM, DS License Server). We show how many licences you actually need, rather than how many installations you have.
Accurate counting according to vendor metrics (per core, per socket, per instance). A vendor metrics engine for common models.
Contracts, entitlements, true-up dates, renewal and notice deadlines, and documents in one place, with reminders.
Who used which software, when and how often, with the cost of each unused licence in euros.
Microsoft 365 / Azure, Adobe and DeepL: assigned versus actually used. Inactive seats become visible.
Audit-ready reports at the click of a button: compliance reconciliation, overlicensing and underlicensing, renewal forecasts, PDF / XLSX export.
Permissions can be explicitly controlled for each site or plant. Visibility is limited to the relevant site.
Integrations
CommsOS SAM is the optimisation, contract and reporting layer over existing sources. No endpoint agent, no rollout to 7.000 devices. Only API and log connections.

Licence scope
We do not promise telemetry that the source cannot supply. We openly document what we deliver for each licence family, including the limits.
CATIA, 3DEXPERIENCE, Siemens NX, Creo, AutoCAD-Network
Actual concurrent utilisation from licence server logs · Peak analysis · Licence reclamation with a € valuation per module / token
Limit: Requires access to the relevant licence server (FlexLM / DS / comparable).
E1 / E3 / E5, Business Basic / Standard / Premium, Visio, Project
Assigned versus active (sign-ins, workload usage) · Right-sizing recommendation · Duplicate assignments
Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Hybrid-Use-Benefit
Reservation coverage report, unused reservations, BYOL status, based on Microsoft Graph & Cost Management
Limit: Detailed FinOps analysis (tagging hygiene, anomaly detection) is outside the scope.
All-Apps, Single-App, Acrobat Pro
Active versus assigned seats · Inactivity thresholds · Licence reclamation workflow
Pro-Teams, Pro-Advanced
Inactive users, usage forecast, right-sizing
Windows Server, SQL Server, Oracle DB, RHEL
Counting according to vendor metrics (core / socket / named user) · Server inventory from Lansweeper
Limit: An audit defence compliant with Oracle LMS requirements needs additional manual engineering. We provide the figures, rather than a legal opinion.
MATLAB, ANSYS, Vector, Comsol
The same method as CAD, provided the licence servers supply logs
Limit: We record token-based models (e.g. ANSYS HPC Pack) at token level, where the server supplies this information.
Subscriptions, EA / VLSC, true-up obligations
Centrally managed · Deadlines cockpit · Document archive · Renewal forecast
Scope and limits
A clear scope saves time for both parties. This sets out what we cover and where our service is unsuitable.
Getting started
Before you commit, your actual inventory shows where you are paying for unused licences. Start small and scale systematically.
We review your software environment and define data access: Lansweeper, licence servers, cloud APIs. The outcome is clarity on where action matters most.
The first connector. Your installation inventory is normalised against a product catalogue, and contracts are reconciled against usage. An initial compliance reconciliation based on your actual figures.
Connection to your licence servers. Concurrent utilisation, peak analysis, a licence reclamation engine with a € valuation. Technical licences typically account for the largest cost items here.
Microsoft 365 / Azure, Adobe, DeepL, followed by server licences using vendor metrics. Site permissions, audit reports and the renewal cockpit go live.
Already following a different sequence? We align the rollout with your most pressing issue. These phases are a proposal, rather than a requirement.
Next step
30 minutes of scoping. Read-only access. A clear assessment of whether CommsOS SAM is suitable for your needs, before any integration takes place.
Licences are one part of the picture. For the other, two figures are enough: Submit your card count and price per card (German), with an assessment within two working days. How Comms Connect is paid is disclosed under how we are paid.
30-minute call. You outline your stack, and we clarify data access.
We identify areas for action and the work required, with a concise review on request.
Implementation follows only after that. Phase by phase, with verifiable results.
